​Recently shared snapshots of summer days in Tauranga during the 1960s proved so popular that I thought it would be interesting to show some of the activities that kept Tauranga residents busy during the cooler months.

​These images are part of the Robert Gale slide collection of more than 2000 photographs taken from 1961 to 1970. Gale and his family moved to Tauranga in the early 1960s and he taught at Merivale School until his retirement. Robert was a member of the Tauranga Photographic Society for many years.
