In Katikati you will find the stunning contemporary Western Bay of Plenty Museum where the heritage of the Western Bay of Plenty takes pride of place and where you will receive a warm welcome and be inspired by Paula and her outstanding heritage team.  Major exhibitions revolve two or three times a year with other exhibitions happening concurrently. Learn more here

Katikati Mural Town
Katikati is one of the first Irish settlements in New Zealand. Its history is told in its 69 murals dotted around the town. There are guided tours daily throughout the summer where you can learn about the murals and their artists.  It is a great place to visit, stop a while, and wander around.

Katikati's thriving horticultural & apiary hub
In recent times Katikati has become a thriving horticultural region with avocado and kiwifruit orchards.  orchards becoming the backbone of the town. Rural Katikati is the birthplace of the Avocado Industry In turn this is encouraging apiary and other related industries into the region. Katikati, under the auspices of the Western Bay District Council, is a town that knows its identity, prides itself on telling its stories and encourages growth.
