The proposed Centre is planned around the new school history curriculum as well as being a gateway to experience all things heritage around Tauranga, the Western Bay of Plenty, the wider Bay of Plenty and beyond
A Heritage Strategy for Tauranga & Western Bay of Plenty named: Heritage Together – Kotahitanga | Orokohanga Poutama supported by local Government and other sponsors. This strategy - facilitated by Taonga Tū | Heritage Bay of Plenty, is being driven by a network of Heritage Partners a mix of Tangata whenua and heritage organisations around the rohe. Click to take our survey Explore Footprints on Te papa - a Tauranga City Heritage Trail: Working in conjunction with TCC, Tauranga City Libraries & the local office of Heritage New Zealand | Pouhere Taonga, our Heritage Sponsors, EVES, Sharp Tudhope Lawyers, Tourism BoP and The Bay Sun the updated Map and accompanying website will look at 72 places of historical interest from 6th Avenue to Sulphur Point. The website will also be featuring stories and images of Tauranga’s ‘Lost Heritage’ so will continue to be updated as and when new builds happen and the stories expand.
It is proposed this Heritage Map & Guide along with its website will be launched in the Spring of 2022
