Kowhai Gallery was home Tauranga Heritage Collection's outstanding light-box exhibition of GLIMPSES - a snapshot of the rich heritage crossing Bay of Plenty. This was accompanied by some amazing art work from Arohanoa Mathews and exquisite weaving by Lisa Passmore.

This very successful exhibition, Kaikauhoe - Pounamu Taonga o Tauranga Moana, acknowledged the legend of the greenstone as journeyed to from the Bay of Plenty its resting place in the South Island
Photographic History of Tauranga's Jazz Festival - 2019
The Photographic History of Tauranga's Jazz Festival on Tauranga's Strand, has come about through a collaborative initiative between Taonga Tauranga, Taylor Bros Transport Ltd, Tauranga City Council's Heritage Collection, Tauranga Jazz Society, Downtown Tauranga, Trustpower, Tuskany Agency and Tauranga's Historical Society. Read more about the Exhibition here The aim being to make more of Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty’s history accessible to all.

Ian Taylor: February 2018 - Read about it here Ian is world renowned for his virtual reality work and takes us into technology applications which can be used to create virtual reality exhibits. Ian is an inspirational speaker enthralling audiences young and old.

Senior Prize Winners
Lillie Scott and Liv Donavan-Grammerwere the winners of the Senior Essay competition. Lilly from Aquinas College won first prize of $1000.00 and Liv from Otumetai College was second with a $500.00 prize.

Junior Prize Winners
Carla Roberts and Amy McAulay from Otumoetai College were the winners of the Junior Essay Prize; they won a trip to visit Ian Taylor’s Studio and the two museums in Dunedin. Mini Video taken by the students here.

Inspirational Intermediate Art Competition - April 2018
Tauranga students inspire with their museum designs: Taonga Tauranga helped run an Art Competition for Intermediate Students. The students were asked what their vision was for a Museum for Tauranga. Two of the winners: Mirakyl Mitchell, left, and Hillary Kip, both from Tauranga.
